Road Closing
On October 12th,
during a schedule visit during its watershed van tour, CLEAN learned
that the developer had decided to close the road to all but residents
and construction workers. The developer knew of the tour because it was
publicized in local papers. He was also aware that CLEAN had been
monitoring activity on-site, including questionable tree farming
practices, failure to provide adequate soil erosion control measures on
his current subdivision, and the illegal construction of Sonoma Court,
one of the major roads into his yet-to-be approved subdivision. CLEAN
feels that the closing was designed to keep us from seeing other
activity taking place on the current construction area, as well as the
proposed site. CLEAN lodged a complaint with Ringwood Borough officials
about the closure (which requires borough permission) on November 14th,
but as of December 4th, has received no reply.

The
developer claims that the road is private and its closure legal,
but the road is shown on filed subdivision maps and borough tax
maps, so it is public.
