Why
does Skylands CLEAN need you?
Until now, CLEAN has been very effective in reacting to problems as they surface. But as the issues are becoming more complex, the development interests more powerful, and the timeframes for action shorter, CLEAN needs resources, planning ahead for a Skylands that we will all enjoy tomorrow. Skylands residents need to be involved in issues before they become crises. Your municipal government, the County Freeholders, and the State Legislature, regardless of political affiliation, need input from citizens in order to make the right decisions about land use planning and environmental protection. But it is hard to do it alone. Individuals need an organization to keep them informed, perform detailed technical analysis, and support them in their advocacy. CLEAN is the regional grass-roots organization that has been helping you since 1987. How will you benefit from membership in Skylands CLEAN? Membership in Skylands CLEAN will provide other benefits to you as well. In addition to the knowledge that you are helping CLEAN, you will receive:
How does Skylands CLEAN operate? Skylands CLEAN has over dozens of active volunteers and 800 supporters throughout the Highlands and around the state. Decisions are made through our Board of Trustees. The President, Vice-President, and Treasurer work closely with the paid staff to conduct the day-to-day business of the organization. Volunteers are also active in day-to-day research, operations and special projects. The Trustees are elected by the other Trustees, and receive no salary or benefits for their work. As is the case with many non-profit organizations, CLEAN's general membership does not have voting privileges. Members influence the work of CLEAN by becoming actively involved. Over the years, individuals who have clearly demonstrated their genuine commitment to the mission of Skylands CLEAN, and their willingness to work consistently towards those goals, have been nominated and elected by the Board to become a Trustee. Skylands CLEAN, Inc. is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. Donations are deductable to the extent allowed by law. |
