This $500 scholarship, named after former CLEAN trustee Gene Rosenfield, honors a graduating Lakeland Regional High School student and a graduating West Milford High School student who has demonstrated initiative, leadership, and accomplishment in protecting, preserving and enhancing our local natural environment.
Gene Rosenfield loved this region's mountains, rivers, streams and lakes and was stalwart in his efforts to protect them. A world traveler, he considered the NJ Highlands one of the most beautiful places on earth.
The winners for 2008 were Geoffrey Toye of West Milford HS and Morgan Lawson of Lakeland Regional High School. Congratulations Geoff and Morgan! Both students will be attending William Paterson University in the fall. Check with your High School Guidance office for information on the award for 2009.
